Chic Anderson began his distinguished career in High School District 211 in 1958, coaching football, basketball, and baseball at Palatine High School. From 1969 to 1988, Chic served as the school's athletic director. His coaching experience, knowledge of the community's needs, and belief that life's most enduring lessons could be learned through athletics enabled him to develop an athletic program respected statewide. Chic created a competitive spirit and a great athletic tradition during his tenure. He helped instill in students, teachers, and coaches the traditional values of honesty, sincerity, love, and hard work. During his tenure as athletic director, Pirate athletic teams won three stare championships as well as capturing 12 other stare trophies. There also were 13 individual state champions crowned during that time. Chic has been recognized many rimes on the state and national levels for his outstanding work as an educator and administrator. A member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Hall of Fame, Chic was honored upon his retirement by having the football stadium named after him.
