Kathy began her distinguished career at Palatine High School in 1974. Her energy and expertise were extremely instrumental in establishing a state-recognized girl's Badminton program. She is a coach who is remembered for establishing a standard of excellence in her programs.During Kathy's tenure, she coached girl's volleyball from 1976-1983 and badminton from 1976-1991, and she helped start the girls's golf program in 1992. Her badminton teams won 10 consecutive M.S.L. championships (1982-1991); 13 consecutive I.H.S.A. Sectional Championships (1979-1991); and four State Championships (1985, 1986, 1989, and 1991). Her 1985 team was the first Palatine High School athletic team to win a State Championship. Kathy also coached many individual medalists at the state tournament, including one singles champion and four state champion doubles teams. The State Coaches Association recognized her as Coach of the Year four times. In 1991, she was inducted into the State Coaches Association Hall Of Fame. Currently the Physical Education Department Head, Kathy continues to have an impact on the athletic program by serving as Event Supervisor for the Spring Athletic season. Kathy will always be remembered as a coach who went the "extra mile" for students at Palatine High School.
