A 1996 graduate, Carolyn’s accomplishments in cross country and track are legendary throughout the state. This elite athlete was a four time state qualifier in cross country, leading her team to four Mid-Suburban League, four Regional and four Sectional Championships, as well as two State Championships. Her 1995 team is still considered the best in Illinois history. She was named to the All-State team in 1992 and 1994. In track, Carolyn was a three time All-State performer in the 1600 meters. She also anchored the 3200 meter relay team to State Championships in 1993 and 1995, a 2nd place finish in 1994 and 4th place in 1996. She is the only Palatine athlete to earn a State medal on a relay team all four years of high school. Carolyn earned fourteen state medals in her career - the most by any athlete in school history. A great competitor and leader, she finished her distinguished career by being named the Palatine High School Female Athlete of the Year in 1996. Carolyn continued her athletic career at the University of Missouri, lettering in cross country and track, and helped her team qualify for the N.C.A.A. Championships. She graduated with a degree in Math Education and is currently teaching in Homewood, Illinois.
