A 1973 graduate, Jim was a two-time letter winner in both golf and football. After graduating from Palatine High School, Jim attended Western Illinois University where he was a Division II All-American in 1976 and 1977. After serving as an assistant golf pro at Hillcrest Country Club and Thorngate Country Club, Jim landed the head golf professional position at Chapel Hill Golf Course in 1983. He moved on to Highland Park Country Club for four years before becoming the current head golf pro at The Ivanhoe Club, a position he has held since 1989. He was named Illinois PGA Professional-of-the-Year in 1995 and 2000, and was a finalist for National PGA Professional-of-the-Year in 2001. Jim’s accomplishments as a professional player are equally impressive. Among his accolades are 2007 Illinois PGA Senior Champion and 2007 Illinois Senior Player-of-the-Year. He has played in three PGA Championships and five Western Opens. All in all, Jim has won over 40 IPGA events during his 30-year career. Whether it’s working on his game, helping others improve theirs, or greeting his Ivanhoe Club members with a smile, Jim has proven himself as a true ambassador for the game of golf.
